Your role as Municipal Officer
As our Municipal Officer at West Tamar Council, you’ll work across Parks, Roads and Property to help maintain and improve the spaces, facilities and infrastructure our community relies on. Your day‑to‑day work may include maintaining parks and reserves, supporting road and stormwater repairs, assisting with bridge and signage works, and helping to care for Council buildings, waste facilities and public amenities. This hands‑on role suits someone who enjoys variety, is competent operating plant and equipment, and takes pride in delivering safe, high‑quality work.
Flexibility and a proactive mindset are key as you engage in diverse tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental practises while enhancing the council’s assets.
Who We're Looking For
- Have experience in construction, maintenance fields and grounds maintenance - qualifications in public infrastructure construction, maintenance or grounds curating desirable.

Be able to communicate clearly and have basic computer literacy.

Be willing to obtain relevant plant, safety and First Aid certifications/competencies.
- Hold and continue to hold a current unencumbered Class C driver’s license. (essential)
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-conscious, and community-minded. They will be confident operating equipment, and ready to tackle physical tasks. Strong teamwork, a flexible attitude, and a focus on environmental responsibility are key.
