Your role in preserving history

As our Heritage Centre Assistant at the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, you will be instrumental in ensuring the effective operation of the Centre. This part-time role emphasises providing exceptional customer service, managing retail operations, and facilitating engaging visitor experiences. You will also oversee volunteer activities, ensuring they are supported and trained to deliver high-quality service.

Your responsibilities will encompass a range of operational and administrative tasks, including managing merchandise displays, coordinating bookings, and maintaining the presentation of public areas. You will interact with visitors, providing insightful commentary and addressing inquiries about the Centre’s history and exhibits.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for history and community engagement. If you possess strong administrative skills, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to inspire and lead volunteers, we want to hear from you!

  • Knowledgeable of local and Tasmanian history, with a knack for sharing that knowledge.
  • Proven administrative and customer service skills, adept at building positive relationships and resolving conflicts.
  • Strong organisational abilities, capable of prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

In this role, you will not only support the Heritage Centre Coordinator but also create a welcoming environment, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a sense of connection to our cultural heritage. Your ability to manage and lead volunteers will ensure a collaborative and effective team dynamic.
