Your role as an Accountant

As our Accountant at West Tamar Council, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our financial integrity and transparency. Your expertise will provide the foundation for informed decision-making across the organisation. Supporting the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead a small team to deliver top-notch financial services that adhere to all statutory requirements and reflect our commitment to ethical governance.

In this dynamic role, you will jointly oversee our Finance Officers, implement innovative accounting systems, and play a pivotal role in managing internal financial controls. Your insights will directly influence our financial strategies, ensuring we meet our objectives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Who We're Looking For

We are searching for an enthusiastic and skilled accountant with a passion for community service and a drive for excellence. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and have a proactive approach to problem-solving, this could be the opportunity for you!

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance, with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Membership in a recognised professional accounting body (CPA or CA).
  • Proficient knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and strong computer skills, especially in MS365.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a commitment to developing team performance.
