Civil Works Officer - Community Assets (Fixed Term)

 

Community Assets is seeking Expressions of Interest to fill the position of Civil Works Officer in the Technical Services team for up to 8 weeks from Monday, 26 May 2025.  This vacancy is offered on either a job-share or full-time basis to cover a period of leave.

The Role: 
The main focus will be to assist departmental officers in undertaking inspections of works, application of Council’s by-laws, customer service requests and investigation of asset issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure staff in developing and delivering civil works projects
  • Engage and supervise contractors to carry out civil works for Council as required
  • Supervise construction contracts to ensure compliance with contract requirements and Council standards
  • Carry out safety audits with Contractors.  Ensuring that Contractors all have correct licences and have been through Council’s induction process prior to commencing work
  • Maintain a general overview of constructions sites and traffic management plan implementation/upkeep
  • Assist in the review subdivision design and construction plans
  • Supervise subdivision works to ensure compliance with specified standards
  • Investigate and approve vehicular access from properties to council roads and stormwater connections to council mains
  • Undertake customer service duties as required
  • Process street lighting applications and street lighting designs in accordance with Council policy

Fixed term contract:
Handover will commence Monday, 26 May, with the duration of the contract running Monday, 6 June - Thursday, 17 July 2025 inclusive.
